All strainers are Sample Preparation Devices – They are NOT useful to separate cells in of slightly different sizes. Mesh openings are three-dimensional “quares” as the result of waving, formed by fibers of >30 µm thickness. Cell have a very plastic membrane and squeeze through mesh openings which are much smaller than the cell diameter.
